A Golden Moment for Taylor-Made Dreams

As the world celebrates the 42nd anniversary of Torvill and Dean’s historic Gold Medal win at the 1984 Winter Olympics, Taylor-Made Dreams is delighted to announce that Dame Jayne Torvill has joined the charity as a Patron. Her appointment comes at a fitting moment, bringing renewed inspiration and support as the charity continues to expand its reach across Kent, Sussex, Surrey and Essex.

"When I first learned about the valuable work of Taylor‑Made Dreams, and the support it offers to children with life-limiting illnesses and their families, I felt both deeply moved and immensely honoured to become a Patron," said Dame Jayne Torvill. "The charity’s commitment to providing practical help, emotional care, and precious memory-making experiences brings comfort, dignity, and moments of joy at the most challenging of times. It is a privilege to be involved, and I hope that by helping to raise awareness and funds, I can offer support in a way that’s genuinely useful to the families it serves."

Suzi Mitchell, CEO and Founder of Taylor-Made Dreams, expressed her excitement about Dame Jayne's involvement: “We are deeply honoured to have Dame Jayne Torvill join us as a Patron and lend her support to our work. Her courage, dedication, and remarkable achievements resonate strongly with the inspirational children and families we are privileged to support. As the Founder and CEO of Taylor‑Made Dreams, and as Taylor’s mother, whose life and spirit inspired the creation of the charity, I am truly grateful for Dame Jayne’s involvement. I look forward to working with her as we continue to help families navigate the most challenging of journeys.”

Dame Jayne joins comedian John Bishop, who became a Patron in 2014. John met Taylor, the inspiration for Taylor-Made Dreams, after Taylor expressed a wish to meet his comedy hero whilst he was fulfilling his own wish list. Deeply moved by Taylor’s strength and outlook, John generously offered his support to the charity. Each year, on 3 March—Taylor’s birthday—he performs a fundraising show in Taylor’s honour, a heartfelt tribute from Taylor’s favourite comedian that now helps other children with life‑limiting illnesses achieve their dreams.
